The Posidyne® clutch/brake is designed for start/stop applications. Oil shear technology combined with advanced friction materials deliver smooth, accurate engagements., excellent positioning accuracy and repeatability, and superior thermal capability. A multiple friction disc design provides high torque capacity in a low inertia package. The Posidyne® clutch/brake also delivers long service life with low maintenance for applications where downtime is critical. Totally enclosed rugged housings provide protection against hostile environments. The new X-Class Clutch/Brakes are designed as C-Face units readily used to replace many of the dry friction clutch/brakes on the market. The rugged cast iron housing provides a totally enclosed assembly, lightweight, and superior heat transfer from the fluid inside to the outside air. The 02 through 30 sizes have torque ratings of 450 to 80,000 In.Lbs. They are furnished in a solid cast iron housing with foot mounting, however the sizes 02 through 03 are available with a C-Face option. For many applications the split clamped quill input provides a solid clutch/brake to motor connection, preventing rolled keyways etc. On the larger Posidyne® clutch/brake a long coupled C-Face input is offered. This system provides an extended shaft on which a coupling can be mounted. This eliminates the loose fit of a quill assembly again preventing keyway problems. The manifold mounted solenoid valve is available on most units as an option, or the customer can furnish his own valve and use the tapped ports, on both the top and bottom of the clutch/brake.
