The CLPCTM is a series of microprocessor based Closed
Loop Positioning Controls. They are commonly used with a clutch/brake
indexing drive to accurately stop the drive in position each time, every
time. The control counts pulses from an encoder to determine the ultimate
time to bring on the brake. The CLPCTM Control monitors each
stop and will make an adjustment to the trigger point to maintain the
stop position. This eliminates the need for manual, or other adjustments
to compensate for changes in the speed, load, environment, or temperature.
The controls all incorporate a manual adjustment that allows the user
to offset the index from the mechanical home position by up to 25% of
the total index in either direction.
There are several models of CLPCTMClosed Loop Positioning
Controls to fit a variety of applications.
Feed - to - Length Position Control
- Utilizing a CLPC® LC and PLC the feed to length unit is used to index
product to length, stop send an output signal process the next step.
- Closed Loop Positioning feature of the CLPC® LC assures accurate indexing
under all conditions.
- Includes HAND OFF AUTO
With absolute position memory
- A larger freestanding control often used for retrofit applications
where the control is added with the clutch/brake.
- Highly noise-resistant with on-board data buffering and differential
line driven quadrature signal.
- Zero-power RAM stores encoder position on loss of power, eliminating
need to recalibrate after power loss.
- Up to 1000-ft. cable length with differential line driver.
- Includes JOG and HAND OFF AUTO switches
- Adjustable index length and offset from home position on front panel.
"In position" and "programmable limit switch" outputs
- Same as the CLPC® II with the addition of an "In Position"
and 4 "Programmable Limit Switch" ouputs.
- Eliminates need to trigger auxiliary devices with rotary limit switches
tied to drive shaft, reducing system cost and wiring.
- Allows machine tasks to be done in parallel, with coordinated motion.
- Greatly improves overall machine cycle.
- Delivers an "In Position" signal on completion of the index
- The allowable window for "In Position" is adjustable.
"Bumpless" dual-speed position control
- Use low speed for soft starts and super-accurate stops.
- Control logic allows programmable overlap of signals to high-speed
and low-speed sides of the drive for bumpless speed changes.
- Simple setup using front panel control.
- Available (Model IIIC) with "in position" and programmable
limit switch outputs.
With integrated cut-to-length position control
- Same as the CLPC® II with the addition of an "In Position"
and 4 "Programmable Limit Switch" ouputs.
- Eliminates need to trigger auxiliary devices with rotary limit switches
tied to drive shaft, reducing system cost and wiring.
- Allows machine tasks to be done in parallel, with coordinated motion.
- Greatly improves overall machine cycle.
- Delivers an "In Position" signal on completion of the index
