About Us: History

Force Control's present product portfolio dates back to 1959. The experiences of designing, manufacturing and applying oil shear or wet design multiple disc clutch and brake products grew through the 1960s. New ownership and financial support, renewed enthusiasm, and knowledgeable and inventive personnel lead to the development of the Posidyne® design in the 1970s. History has proven the Posidyne® design to be a major breakthrough in the service life expectancy of heavy power transmission clutches and brakes.

Force Control management began a movement to expand their offering of oil shear products in the late 1970s. A Sales Division was opened in Michigan in the early 1980s to establish a direct factory contact with the automotive industry and major machine tool manufacturers. A combined effort identified many areas of need. Our sales engineering department responded with many new product designs. These in turn allowed Force Control to expand its product line to all other industries.

Today our line of standard products has grown from a simple Posidyne® clutch brake into a large family of related product lines described on this site. Many other custom products, along with engineering services, are also available. Posidyne® clutch brakes, and other related Force Control products that have been running trouble-free for many years, may be found in operation worldwide servicing a broad range of industries. In the 1990s we opened regional sales offices in Mesa, AZ; Dallas, TX; Atlanta, GA; and Dayton, OH.

Our continuing goal is to provide industry with durable, performance-designed products to keep production running, with products "Built To Last - Guaranteed To Perform."
